Governor Bobby Jindal’s office issued a news release on Jun 8, 2012 titled Governor Jindal Signs Bill to Protect Life. Today he signed SB330 by Senator Rick Ward and SB708 by Senator Sharon Broome.
SB330 by Senator Rick Ward creates the crime of criminal abortion. The crime is defined as the performance of an abortion where the abortionist is not a Louisiana Licensed physician. The punishment is specified as from one to five years at hard labor and a fine between $5,000 and $50,000.
